Transformation of the Day: Deondria lost 45 pounds by adopting a healthier lifestyle. After giving birth to her second son, this mom was determined to lose the pounds by any means necessary. Check out her journey.
In 2016 and 2017, I gained a tremendous amount of weight due to being stressed out at a job I hated. I got my degree back in December 2015, and in February 2016, my husband and I moved to Charlotte, NC. I began a job at a mortgage company as a customer service rep. It was supposed to be a temporary job, just something to get me on my feet until I could find a job in my field. It was a Monday thru Friday 8 am -5 pm job, with no weekends.
I found myself hating going to work every day, and I used food for comfort. I ate all the time and became so mentally drained from listening to yelling customers all day. By the time I got home, I just wanted to lay on the couch, watch TV, and eat. I become such a lazy person. It was horrible, and I noticed that the stress started to reflect my home life. Being a mother and wife does not mix well with being lazy.
Next thing you know, I weigh 210 pounds! I just woke up one day thinking, “How did I get here!?” Not only did I gain weight, but so did my husband. However, that was a good thing because we both started our weight loss journeys together in October 2017. I lost a good 20 pounds, but then I found out I was pregnant in May 2018. That signaled the end of that part of my weight loss journey.
After I gave birth to my second son, I made my mind up that I was going to get to my goal weight by any means necessary. So after my six weeks postpartum doctors appointment, I was cleared to start my journey. It was February 2019, and my starting weight was 202 pounds. Now, I’m down 45 pounds. I have also transitioned into being a weight loss consultant helping women like me lose weight, and it’s amazing. I’m so glad I was able to truly change myself, mind, body, and soul, and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting back from all unhealthy foods like fried foods, junk food, and soda. I created a program for myself which I have adapted for other women called Lose Weight the Charm Way
Tell us about your workout routine.
My workout plan consisted of going to the gym 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes to an hour. I worked out on the treadmill and the elliptical. I also did some weight training.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
If you really want to lose weight, have a deep faith in God that you can do it and he will get you there.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My best advice for women is to be CONSISTENT. Don’t give up after a month because you don’t see results. Keep pushing! As long as you are engaging in a healthier lifestyle, you will see results.
