Transformation of the Day: Keisha lost 67 pounds. First, she found success by giving up meat. After hitting a plateau, this mom made even more progress with Keto. She never gave up because she promised herself that this attempt at releasing the weight would be different. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation came one day in September 2018. My kids were weighing themselves, and I decided to get on the scale. When I hopped on, I realized that I weighed almost 200 pounds. I realized if I didn’t make some changes, I was cutting years off of my life.
On the days that I wanted to give up, I remembered the promise that I made to myself that this time would be different.
How did you change your eating habits?
For seven months, I cut out all meat except for fish and seafood. I lost
25 pounds by doing that and exercising. My body hit a plateau, and I needed something different, so I decided to try Keto. I cut out all carbs and sugars from my diet. This change helped me to shed an additional 42 pounds.
I used to eat lots of fast food, Funyuns and drink ginger ale. I didn’t realize how much sugar was in my diet until I started Keto. I was slowly killing myself.
Tell us about your workout routine.
When I began working out, I would work out six days a week. Monday
through Friday, I would work out twice a day. My first workout was at 3:30 am, which includes HIIT workouts. Then, I would walk for an hour a day for my second workout.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 192 pounds, and I currently weigh 125 pounds. My goal weight was 145 lbs, which I have surpassed by 20 pounds. I have lost a total of 67 pounds.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began my journey in September 2018. It took me 11 months to get to
where I am now.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have learned that weight loss is about mindset and determination. If you make up in your mind that you want to do something, it makes it a little easier. I’ve also learned that a weight loss journey is a marathon and not a sprint.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
Take it one day at a time and surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable. If you happen to slip up, keep going, and remember why you started.
