Tanya lost 40 pounds. She didn’t let PCOS, emotional eating, or self-sabotage stop her from transforming, both physically and mentally. Clean eating, mindfulness, and self-care are essential to her success.
In less than six months, I lost 40 pounds by eating clean and practicing mindfulness and self-care (both of which helped me overcome self-sabotaging thoughts and behavior).
To turn my life around, I made a conscious effort to learn how to live simply and naturally. I banished bad habits, underwent a digital detox, and retrained my body and brain.
What was your motivation?
I was motivated by the fact that I wanted to get healthy and finally feel good about myself both mentally and physically. Life before 2017 was a series of emotional and physical highs and lows. I suffered from PCOS and emotional eating issues. I was a mess; emotionally drained, mentally exhausted, and physically unhealthy. Self-sabotage was preventing me from losing weight. My hormones were off-balance, and my skin was suffering. I was severely depressed, lost, frustrated, and I knew it was time for a change.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by eating clean, practicing mindful eating (mindfulness), and watching my portions. I cut out all processed and packaged foods and started eating whole and real foods. I stopped shopping in the middle aisles at the grocery and instead spent the majority of my time in the produce section. I also learned how to cook so that I could prepare my own meals.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I ran or walked outside every morning.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 180 pounds, and my current weight is 140 pounds.
What is your height?
5’7″.
When did you start your journey?
October 2017. My journey from then to now has led me to become the best version of myself – although I’m still learning and evolving! Overcoming my life long struggles sparked in me a passion to share what I’ve discovered.
After experiencing my own major life transformation, I’m now dedicated to helping women change their eating habits and reach optimal health and wellness, through the power of mindfulness, self-care, and healthy eating. My life is now devoted to sharing ideas, tools, and resources that will help other women (like me ) on a similar journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I’m a lot stronger than I thought. And that I can truly manifest the things I want in my life if I only believe, take action and keep moving forward despite my challenges and obstacles.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
I believe that with the right guidance, tools, and resources, plus solid goals to work toward, you can get healthy, lose weight, and be the best version of yourself.
Here’s my advice: By removing the negative stuff from your life – whether that’s toxic relationships, self-critical thought patterns, unhealthy distractions, or processed food – you’ll be better able to focus on the positive and reap the rewards that self-care offers.
These four major areas can help you gain incredible clarity and give you the mental and physical energy to grow:
1. Mindfulness: Becoming self-aware, learning how to avoid being overly reactive to what’s happening in your life, and learning to live in the present
2. Clean Eating: Nourishing your body with clean, natural food that gives you energy, keeps you in peak physical condition, and helps you maintain a healthy weight
3. Minimalism: De-cluttering your home and mind to improve your focus and concentration, banish negative thoughts and help you move forward
4. Stress Management: Learning how to manage and reduce stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions so you can break free of fear and self-doubt
