Brittany lost 39 pounds. After the birth of her second child, she decided to change her mindset and her habits to release the weight. MyFitnessPal and lifting heavy helped her to get results. Check out her story.
These pictures are in the same year, March 2019 vs. July 2019. This is weight loss transformation after baby number two. My son is six years old, and my daughter will be one year old in a few weeks! I started in October after being cleared to workout out, and it’s been non-stop ever since.
What is your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation this time around was remembering how I felt when I was in a healthier body (I remember how strong and fast I was). What kept me going was knowing that the end result is worth more than giving up!
How did you change your eating habits?
I downloaded MyFitnessPal to keep my calories on track. It took a lot of sucking up. I cried plenty of nights because I had to force myself not to eat late-night snacks! Shifting my mindset to “health first,” I started incorporating more veggies and carbs for energy. I’ve cut out a lot of sweets and fast food. I also made sure I had more protein. I drink 3 liters to a gallon of water daily.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I started lifting heavier weights and doing 30 minutes of cardio 4-5 days a week.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight after both kids was 235 pounds. Now, I weigh 196 pounds, and I am 5’2″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I learned was to stop thinking of fitness as one dimensional. (You know, a “nice body” or “best abs”) Instead, I learned to think of it in terms of how confident you are in yourself and having true peace. The beautiful thing about our health journey is that it is NOT A RACE! That mindset helps me every single day.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women, especially postpartum mothers, is to be patient and kind to yourself. It takes a while to start feeling like yourself again. Just now, almost a year later, I’m starting to gain my confidence back.
Most importantly, put your health first! You do matter to a lot of people!
