Transformation of the Day: Tasha lost 85 pounds. One day, she realized that she was sick and tired of being sick and tired. She signed up for Weight Watchers, signed up for a gym membership, and prayed for help. By working hard and being consistent, she’s gotten great results.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going?
I was tired of not feeling well. I also had high blood pressure and struggled with depression. I wanted to change my life.
When did you start your journey?
In January 2017, I decided that I wanted to do this. I prayed to God because I knew I needed some help. I said, “Lord, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired!!”
The picture with my daughter on my back is so very significant because I indeed was carrying a lot of extra weight and all of it wasn’t on my body! I look at my old pictures and can’t help but get happy! It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ve even amazed myself!
How did you change your eating habits?
Weight Watchers helped me retrain my brain because I was an emotional eater. I did WW for about 8 months. Eventually, I stopped craving unhealthy things. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I can eat whatever I want in moderation. I do limit sweets and bread, but I rarely drink sodas.
Tell us about your workout routine?
I joined a gym when I joined WW, and I work out 5-6 days a week. Initially, I did about 40 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weight training. Now, it’s the opposite. I didn’t quit, even when the scale didn’t move, because I realized that I would have to stay consistent if I wanted to change.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
At my 1st weigh in with Weight Watchers, I weighed 252 pounds! It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 85 pounds. At 5’5, I now weigh 167 pounds. My goal is to get to about 150-155. I’m off of my blood pressure medicine, and my kids aren’t always asking me, “Why you breathing so hard?” (Heck cause I was tired!!) Now, the hard part starts… keeping it off.
What advice would you like to share?
Be consistent! Your body will respond. It’s a lifestyle! Surround yourself with people who love and support your goals. Little by little, a little becomes a lot!
If you are struggling to lose 5lbs or 50lbs, just know that it can be done. Don’t give up! Work it because you are worth it. Get your mind on board, and you will be unstoppable.
