Update: Leena lost another 10 pounds with portion control and weight training.
How have you maintained your weight loss and continued to lose weight?
I used portion control and added weights to my workout regime to lose another 10 pounds.
At this point, would you offer any new or different advice to others who want to lose weight?
Add weights to your cardio workouts (or workouts in general) to speed up the process if you want to increase fat burning. Also, stay consistent with your eating regimen and drink plenty of water (half your bodyweight).

Leena lost 27 pounds. After finding motivation while looking at old photos, she decided to restart her journey in February. With meal prep, portion control, and a consistent exercise routine, she has released the weight.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my health and being more confident in myself. I was looking back at an old picture when I first started my journey in 2014. This photo motivated me to finish what I started. I also have a family history of Diabetes and Hypertension. I didn’t want to be another statistic due to bad eating habits or EXCUSES.!
How did you change your eating habits?
I started this journey on 2/18/19. I eliminated the foods that I knew contributed to my weight gain, such as; pasta, white flour, fried foods, sodas, fast foods, etc. I started ordering my healthy meal trays each week ( Courtesy Of Chef C). I also started trying healthy fruit juices. ( Courtesy of Nouri Prep) Staying consistent is what helped me throughout this journey.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine consisted of Zumba, Bootcamp, Power Circuit, and weight lifting. I work out 4 days a week, twice a day. I do fasted cardio in the morning as well, which also contributed to my weight loss journey.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 186.9 pounds, and my current weight is 162.2 pounds. My height is 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started this journey in 2014/2015 when I weighed 198 lbs. I got down to my lowest weight of 136 lbs. The results don’t last long. Once I started nursing school in 2016, I gained 45 pounds very quickly. I was sitting around the 180s in terms of weight up until this point.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned you can’t outwork bad eating habits, and this process is nothing temporary. It’s a life long journey. You’re going to have your ups and downs. It’s all about your mentally, discipline and consistency
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
If you want it bad enough, you will make the necessary changes to get healthier. Meal prepping will save you time and money! Don’t beat yourself up if you have a few bad meals throughout the week. PORTION CONTROL IS KEY AS WELL! I’ve had several slip-ups, but I used portion control very well. I also don’t make excuses to start over the next week. New day, New goal.
