Edwina lost 23 pounds. At a doctor’s appointment, her daughter found out that her A1C had gone up and she said, “Mom, this has to stop.” That was her turning point. She reached out to a weight loss coach for meal planning and exercise guidance. Check out her story.
My motivation was my daughter Taylor. In February, she went with me to my doctor appointment and heard my doctor telling me that my A1C went up one point. At that moment, my daughter looked at me and said, “Mom, this has to stop.” Right at that moment, I knew I had to figure out a way to lose weight.
I’ve always given up on my weight loss journey in the past. This time, I realized that I owe this to not only myself but to my daughter to continue on this journey.
The plan I used was by Terry Starks (aka. The Diet Doctor). I’ve been following Terry Starks on social media sites for a while and finally decided to send him an email. He constructed a meal plan for me. The meal plan provides the food you will be eating each day and the amounts/measurements. The most important part of all this for me is meal prep. I still eat all the food groups, except for junk food. My carbs are basically what’s already in the food. I primarily eat brown rice, veggies, meat, and fruit. You never feel hungry on Terry’s plan because you are fueling your body with food every 3 hours.
Terry Starks also required me to do 30 minutes of cardio a day for three weeks. Then he increased my exercise to two 30 minute cardio workouts. I worked out for 5 to 7 days a week.
My starting weight was 228 pounds, and my current weight is 205 pounds.
I started my journey on January 1, 2019. However, I realized that I need some assistance and I finally reached out to Terry at the end of January to put me on the right track. By following his meal plan, I began seeing a transformation by the middle of March. He focuses on inches and not pounds. I never thought about inches until I saw my transformation. I’ve started phase II with Terry, and I’m looking forward to the next milestone.
Biggest Lesson: Changing my eating habits have made me appreciate food because I took advantage of food all my life and it had to stop.
My advice to women who are beginning this journey or who have been on this journey for a while: Don’t give up. Even when you eat something unhealthy, don’t blow the whole day over one mistake. We are humans and will make mistakes. This journey is hard, but yet fair.
Also, do not be afraid to ask for help or reach out to someone certified that can assist you. Contacting Terry Starks was the best decision I ever made.
