Transformation of the Day: Myisha lost 134 pounds with weight loss surgery. She wanted to avoid developing diabetes and become a healthier person overall, physically, mentally and spiritually. Check out her story.
I had a procedure called the Roux-en-Y [Gastric Bypass] in December 2015. As of today, I’ve lost 140 pounds with weight loss surgery.
What was your motivation?
I was on the verge of having irreversible diabetes, and I was just completely unhealthy and unhappy. I made the decision to change my lifestyle and become a better person, mentally, physically and spiritually because I didn’t want to waste any more time in that body.
Did you have to go on a Pre-op diet?
Yes. I was instructed to lose 10% of my body weight in 12 weeks. I lost 24 pounds. (Didn’t quite make the 10%)
How did you change your eating habits after surgery?
Because my stomach was basically reduced to the size of an orange, I wasn’t able to eat much at first. No bread, soda, sweets for about the first year. Now, I’m able to eat everything…just still in small portions. I make sure that I eat 60 grams of protein each day, eat veggies and drink water!
What did your workout routine consist of?
I do about 20-25 mins of cardio, I’m just now starting to get in weights, so I’m doing about 15-20 minutes. I try to do at least 3 times a week
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Highest weight: 310 pounds
Starting weight: 283 pounds
Current weight: 176 pounds
What is your height?
5’4″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned to not be so hard on myself! I make mistakes, and it’s ok. It’s ok to have a cookie, just not the whole package.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t completely stop yourself from enjoying food. Just learn portion control!
