I got up one day and wanted to lose weight. I was only 19 years old with little support behind my decision. However, 12 years later, I still manage to keep the weight off. Trust me it is difficult! But, I refuse to let all my hard work go to waste!
What was your big why?
I wanted to be healthy. I knew if I kept eating and eating I was going to get bigger and bigger.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
The compliments from my friends and family inspired me to keep going.
How did you change your eating habits over the course of 12 years, first to lose weight and later to maintain your weight loss?
I stopped overeating. I also made healthier eating choices. I always set new goals to eliminate bad eating habits. I stopped eating fried foods and sweets. I still eat the food I LOVE in moderation. When I work hard in the gym, I do treat myself to one cupcake once a month.
I haven’t eaten meat in 77 days. On a regular basis, I make my own fruit juices or smoothies. I eat apples and oatmeal on a regular basis as well. I also avoid eating after 8 pm.
Do you use any dieting methods, like having specific goals for macronutrients or meal prepping?
I struggle with meal methods and preparation. I don’t eat any meat. Instead, I replace my meat with protein powder. I try to cut back on eating too many carbs. Within the next few weeks, I’m going to try carb cycling to eliminate extra carbs.
How has your workout routine evolved?
I remember when I couldn’t work out for 30 minutes. Now, I can stay in the gym for hours. I’m always trying to be a better me in the gym. I do a mixture of cardio and weight training exercises. I’m in the process of building muscle. I want to try HIIT, but right now I just try to stick with what’s comfortable to me.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 270 pounds. My current weight is 160 pounds.
What is your height?
5’3″

Over the years I learned that I can’t rush the process. Just stay persistent and never QUIT.
