Mecca lost 70+ pounds. We have been following her transformation story since 2017. We asked her to share how she has used clean eating and exercise to keep the weight off. Check out her story.
God has blessed me. In the picture on the left, I was uncomfortable and felt unworthy of my purpose on earth. On the right, I knew that I was
worthy of everything that I set my goals on. I had a few setbacks (gaining weight, losing motivation and losing confidence) because I forgot what my purpose truly meant. My purpose has not been achieved. I’m back on track, and I am going to accomplish everything I set my heart on.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
At my heaviest, I weighed 327 pounds. I lost 86 pound, which brought me to my lowest weight of 241 pounds. However, I got up to 279. I’ve since lost some of those pounds, and I’m down to 257 pounds.
I plan to get down to 227lbs by May. I’m doing so with low carbs and intermittent fasting. I’m a vegetarian now, so I’m consuming eggs, vegetables, protein, shakes, etc. I’m drinking water as well as zero carb and calorie drinks. As far as exercise, I usually do cardio, but now I’m focusing on lifting weights so I can tone up.
Of the lessons, you’ve learned, what stands out the most?
What I’ve learned so far is to try different methods of losing weight. Figure out what works for you and stay consistent. I didn’t stay consistent at one point, and I gained weight back. Now, I’m losing weight again by sticking to what I know.
At this point, would you offer any new or different advice to people who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to go at your own pace. Stop comparing yourself to others. Also, begin your journey by eating right. The key is eating clean (80%) and exercise (20%). If you are on a diet of low carbs, you will lose weight. Never forget to drink water because without, your energy will slow down and your weight loss will be slower.
