Transformation of the Day: Alicia lost 55 pounds. Giving birth to her daughter inspired her to live a healthy life so that she could be a good example. With her husband on board and with nutrition and fitness guidance from her coach, she has released the weight and found a love for running. Check out her journey.
Beginning Weight: 210 pounds
Current Weight: 155 pounds
Height: 5’4”
I’ve been overweight the majority of my life, since about 3rd grade. I had gotten to the point that I realized I would just be a chunky girl. Even when I worked out and ate “healthy,” I didn’t lose that much weight. About six months after having my daughter, I decided to get genuinely healthy!
What began in Jan 2018 has now become a lifestyle. I go to the gym almost daily. I’ve taken up running and ran my first half marathon on Jan 5, 2019. I’m prepping meals that are truly healthy! The energy and joy I have now can’t be described!
How did you change your eating habits?
Complete overhaul! I followed the meal plans given to me by my Coach Vincent Hunter (@hybridfitdude). The plan focuses on teaching you how to eat for your life. (not just a fad diet!) I would start with a morning detox (water, cayenne pepper, and lemon) and then have breakfast, a snack, lunch then dinner. The menu varied, but green smoothies became my staple for breakfast. Lunch and dinner were lean proteins with veggies! After the initial challenges, I incorporated all I learned from my coach to create my own meal plans consisting of foods I liked!
What did your workout routine consist of in the gym?
My gym does HIIT classes! Every day there was a new workout! That’s part of what I love! I also added in cardio to my routine, which is how I’ve now become a runner!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
It is POSSIBLE! I have been overweight since 2nd grade! Every time I would start a workout routine, I’d fail! Your body responds best when you feed it properly and then add in workout regimens! It’s just an overnight process! It takes time and effort, like anything you want to succeed at!
Also, Having my daughter really pushed me to want to live my best life possible! If I eat healthily, so does she… and now so does my husband! We make it fun!
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Meal prep, meal prep, MEAL PREP! Lol! Also, while you can do it alone, it really does help to be around people who motivate you and who will support you! My gym, Hybrid Fitness, was the perfect atmosphere for me! Find what you like and don’t be afraid to mix it up!
