After struggling with my weight for many years, I decided it was time for a change. My wake up call came in 2016 when I delivered my son early due to pregnancy complications. After the delivery, I almost died. I saw that as a second chance at life. I made a promise to myself and to my sons that I would take this second chance and live the best life I possibly could.
When I began this journey, I was 330 pounds. I started by first changing my eating since I was still recovering and I couldn’t work out. I cleaned out my cabinets and only ate lean meats and veggies. I also drank a half gallon of water daily.
Once I was cleared to work out, I started walking on the treadmill for an hour. After that, I slowly incorporated weight training. Realizing that I needed more help, I invested in a personal trainer and worked out with him three times a week. I also worked out twice a week by myself.
I worked out with my trainer consistently for a year until I was comfortable by myself. We focused on a lot of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and weights.
I still go to the gym five times a week. I’ll do HIIT for 30-45 minutes and weights for about an hour. I’m currently on the Keto diet, and I weigh 255 pounds.
My journey has taken its time. I still have a ways to go, but I would definitely say it’s been worth it. To anyone going on this journey, I would suggest being patient. Stay consistent, stay focused and never give up. The journey and the results are worth it.
