Transformation of the Day: Keke lost 57 pounds. She just wanted to be able to shop everywhere and not have to ask whether stores carried her size. Working out at home and making practical changes to her eating habits worked for her. Check out her story.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey on March 12 2018. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it’s well worth it! I feel and look so different. This journey has brought me happiness! All of the ladies who have shared their stories with Black Women Losing Weight influenced me to start. I hope my story can do the same!
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was tired of going into stores and asking if they sold plus-size clothing. I wanted to shop everywhere!
My inspiration when I wanted to give up was a close friend of mine who began working out with me. He began to lose weight too. We were each other’s motivation! After I started to see a difference in my clothes, I wanted to do more!
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits, which was hard because I work overnight shifts and snack all night. I began eating five meals a day and had fruit for my snacks. I still snacked on chips and juice here and there, but not like I use to.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I started with at-home workouts. I’d walk around the block or do the Insanity program 3-4 times a week. Then, I began going to the gym.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 292 pounds, and now I’m at 235 pounds! I’m 5’4″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned to control my eating and realized that it’s all a mind thing!
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
Take your time, learn your body, and find what works for you. If you fail, it’s ok. The next day is a new day!
