Transformation of the Day: Laquisha lost 407 pounds. At 645lbs, she decided to have the Gastric Bypass procedure. Her motivation was her two boys and her loving husband who have supported her on this journey. Check out her story.
My name is Laquisha, and I’m 29 years old. I had weight loss surgery in September 2016. At the time, my weight was 645 pounds at 5’3″. I had the Gastric Bypass RNY procedure. My current weight is 238 pounds.
What was your motivation?
My motivation for having surgery was my boys. They are 4 and 6 years old. I couldn’t imagine my life without them and my wonderful husband of 10 years.
How did you change your eating habits?
In the past, soda was my downfall. I would drink about 3 two liters or more a day, even throughout the night. My eating habits were basically SUGAR, lol. I changed my eating habits tremendously. My husband is a workout king, so he set me up with a meal plan. I finally decided to be quiet and listen to the plan. No carbs, bread, sugars, or soda. The plan is no carbs and high protein. I try not to skip meals.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I have Lupus and a few other health issues, but I do work out 3 times a week. I lift weights in my garage, and I walk a lot. When I wasn’t feeling good, I worked out with my walker and did Mommy and Me, a workout class I do with my kids.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned to no to soda. I also learned to say no to sugar and not skip meals for it.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
You can do it. Don’t give up! Find a size or figure you like, and post a photo of it on your wall. Also, write positive notes and post them all over the house to help you stay encouraged.
