Transformation of the Day: Brittany lost 85 pounds. She was tired of being tired and tired of making excuses. Portion control, cutting back on carbs and exercise worked for her, but the real results came from changing her mindset. She shared some excellent insights with us. Check out her journey.
I started my weight loss journey almost 2 years ago. One day, I woke up and decided to make a change. That “change ” has turned into a new way of living. When you get to a particular place where you are tired of being sick and tired, and tired of making excuses for yourself, you’ll start to do something to help yourself! I’m 85 pounds down, and there’s no turning back! It all started with a shift in my mindset. The mind is the body’s steering wheel, and once you grasp that fact, you can do anything!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was inspired by how great I was starting to feel physically and mentally. Losing weight not only changes how we look physically, but it changes our perspective on life and how we view different things. Throughout this whole journey, I’ve gotten tired. I’ve also had days when I sat on my bed and just cried, but I’ve NEVER wanted to give up! When I have days that I feel less motivated, I just find an old picture of myself and I compare it to a recent photo. Then, I can really see all of my hard work, and I instantly feel better.
How did you change your eating habits?
For years, I yo-yo dieted, and my weight yo-yoed too. I finally found a plan that works for me, and I don’t feel restricted or deprived. I just basically eat smaller portions and watch my carb intake. (I said WATCH not ELIMINATE.) Carbs are my weakness
What did your workout routine look like?
I don’t have a specific workout routine, I basically alternate between walking on the treadmill for an hour, and walking around the park a few laps. I’ve recently started to incorporate a little bit of weight lifting into my routine.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 245 pounds, and my current weight is 160 pounds. My height is 5’1″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Losing weight changes your life. In fact, it makes you want to take charge of your life in ALL areas! The same way we neglect our bodies when we’re overweight is the same way we neglect other situations in our life; finances, credit, relationships, etc. Losing weight made me want to take charge of every neglected area in my life.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
There will NEVER be a perfect time to start, so start NOW! Don’t let your weight ruin or run your life. Stand up and decide that you will take back your life today!
