Transformation of the Day: Mojisola lost 126 pounds. This mom started her journey after giving birth to her 3rd child. She summoned up the courage to join a gym, changed her eating habits and learned how important patience is on this journey.
What was your motivation? What inspires you to keep going, even during the tough times?
I started my weight loss journey in 2016. I started living a healthy life after I had my third child. I went to my post-delivery check-up with the nurse. BOOM, I found out that I weighed 125kg/275.5 pounds. That was a wake-up call for me. I knew that I had to do something about my weight.
I was naive and didn’t know what to do. It took three months before I summoned up the courage to join the gym because I was very ashamed of myself. I’ve had two C-sections and one normal birth.
When I look back at photos of myself, there’s no way am going back to my old self. When I look at my kids, I say to myself that there is no way I will let being overweight deny my kids of enjoying their mum. Now I love the way I run around in the park with my kids, climbing, running and going on the slides. It’s such a lovely experience to enjoy doing lots of activities with my family.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 125kg/275.5 pounds, and my current weight is 68kg/149.9 pounds. I have lost 57kg/126 pounds so far. I’m still working hard to lose more weight. I lost all of this weight naturally.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started eating small portions and swapped white, refined carbs with brown foods. I also started eating lots of veggies and fruits every day.
When does your workout routine look like?
I workout 5 to 6 days a week and that includes cardio and weight lifting.
What is biggest lesson you’ve learned?
On this journey of mine, I’ve learned that when you want something badly, you just have to go for it. There’s nothing you cannot achieve. Just keep pushing. Eventually, you will get there.
What advice would you give to other people who want to lose weight?
Losing weight takes time, and it takes a lot of consistency. You have to be patient.
