Update 2019: Sharde is still going strong and looks amazing at 203 pounds. 57 pounds gone.
Transformation of the Day: Sharde lost 53 pounds. This Sigma Gamma Rho soror faced ups and downs, but she never gave up. She did her research on nutrition, added variety to her workouts and allowed herself to be human instead of trying to have a perfect journey. Check out her story.
It’s all about honesty. I went from 260+ pounds to 199 pounds. I went my weight went back up and then back down again. My current weight is 207 pounds at 6 feet tall. Listen, I’m no expert and I’m no trainer. I just got up and tried some shit. I asked questions and did my own research. I experimented with different things and embarrassed myself while doing it. We all start somewhere.
I still ate fried foods and fast food, but in moderation. I skipped some gym days and didn’t give 100% each time, but I still came out on top. Why? BECAUSE I REALIZED I’M HUMAN! We f*** up. It’s not called a journey because it doesn’t happen overnight and every step will not be perfect.
Now, it’s easier for me, but trust me when I say that it’s not always easy. I had pizza this weekend, yesterday I ate a hoagie, and today had some sour patches (the list goes on). However, the more honest you are the better. I don’t post to my page to prove that I’m 100%, because that’s not genuine to me. I post it ALL. This is a lifestyle full of ups, downs, temptations, etc. It’s a forever battle. Some days will be better than others. A lot of days you’ll be sore, bored and tired. Guess what? IT’S OKAY. I always tell people if you really want it, you’ll get it!
What was your motivation?
My motivation was losing the weight that I gained in college.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
When I wanted to give up I was inspired by my old transformation pictures. I knew that if I was successful before I could do it again.
How did you chagne your eating habits?
I changed my habits overall by just reading food labels more, as well as researching healthy foods and restaurants. I’m just a lot more conscious of overeating and portion control.
What did your workout routine look like?
I worked out about 5 days a week when I first started. My routine included cardio and weight training. I also added in some exercise classes and boot camps to my routine so I didn’t get bored. I wanted to challenge myself.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in 2013 and I’ve been on and off since.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned thus far is that I’m human and I’ll make mistakes. It’s not easy but nothing worth having comes easy.
