Kelada lost 46 pounds. She just wanted to be healthy and feel better. The loss of a family member to diabetes was her turning point. She joined a local fitness center, and found the guidance and support she needed. Check out her journey.
What is your motivation? What keeps you going when you feel like giving up?
My motivation to start losing weight was pretty simple. I wanted to be healthy and feel better.
I used to be ashamed to go into the gym, because I felt like I was the biggest girl in the gym. Then, I watched my grandma bury her son due to complications with diabetes. That was enough for me.
When I want to give up, I think about my progress, as well as my family. My family and friends have been extremely supportive during my journey.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits drastically. I went from eating all types of crap to eating very clean. In the past, I hated brussels sprouts and tomatoes. Now, I eat them more than ever.
What did your workout routine look like?
I worked out with a group called The Weight Loss Connection. I received a meal plan as well as a new attitude by working with this group. In the beginning, I participated in a 6 week challenge with the Weight Loss Connection which started on July 10, 2017. It was a serious jump start to my journey.
The work outs were intense and fun. Cardio, circuit training and I had a love hate relationship. I worked out 3-4 times a week, consistently! At the end of the 6 weeks, August 12th, I’d lost 27lbs. I was in disbelief. I couldn’t believe how well I did and how many inches I’d lost as well. I’ve continued to work out and hold myself accountable by attending Effect Fitness here in Atlanta Ga.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 368 pounds and my current weight is 322 pounds. My height is 5’8″. I started my transformation July 2017 and I am still putting in work.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to make journey your own and keep things consistent. I learned to work out when I didn’t feel like it simply because those are the best days.
What advice would you like to share with other people who want to lose weight?
The best advice I could is to give is to just get started. Waiting just prolongs the process.
