Transformation of the Day: Regina has gone from a size 16 to a size 10. After trying pills, fads and various plans over the years, she was looking for a realistic plan that could help her create real lifestyle change. She lost 24 pounds by working with a weight loss coach. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going even during the tough times?
My health was my motivating factor in terms of wanting to live a healthier lifestyle. Heart disease runs rapid in my family. I knew I was headed down that same road at 50 years old. Every time I wanted to give up, I thought about my 13-year old daughter and how I wanted to be around to see her become an adult with her own family.
How did you change your eating habits? What did your workout routine look like?
No pills or gimmicks. Just clean eating and moderate exercising. I was looking for something I knew I could do for a lifetime. I changed my eating habits by using meal plans developed by Terry Starks. The plans consist of lean meats, fish, salads and veggies. I exercised daily for 30 minutes once a day. Eventually, I moved up to 30 minutes twice a day.
At first, it was hard for me to get up in the morning and work out, but now I crave working out. I lost my cravings for sugar, especially chocolate (I was a chocoholic). I was so proud when I could turn down the donuts at work.
I have tried different weight loss programs, but I could never keep the weight off. I’ve used HCG, protein shakes and weight loss pills. Terry Starks’ plan is about making a lifestyle change that is easily maintainable and that produces realistic results.
Starting weight/Current weight
I started my journey in April 2018. I am 5 feet, 10 ½ inches tall. I weighed 226 pounds when I started Terry’s 35 -Day Challenge. At the end of the challenge, I’d lost a ton of inches and a total of 15 pounds. I also went down two dress sizes.
I am still following his plan as I continue my transformation journey. Currently, I weigh 204 pounds. I wore a size 16 when I started the 35 Day Challenge, and now I can wear some clothes in a size 10.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
By working with Terry, I learned that what you eat and how often you eat is truly the key to losing weight. I have also learned that if my eating is on point, I do not have to spend hours in the gym to get the results I want. My stomach is much flatter now, and I am working on wearing a bikini before the end of the summer.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
I wanted to share my story because I hope that it motivates others to never give up on their weight loss goals. We always hear that at the age of 50 it is hard to lose weight because our metabolism slows down. Terry Starks’ Challenge changed my life. I am enjoying the journey and cannot wait until I reach my final goal!
