Transformation of the Day: Kalli lost 63 pounds going from a size 14 to a size 6. Her story should give hope to anyone who is struggling to lose baby weight. After giving birth, she battled with post postpartum depression and she didn’t feel good about her body. She found that the Keto diet, low carb/high fat, was the best plan for her. Check out her story.
During my pregnancy, I gained more than 45 pounds. My weight got up to 209 pounds at 5’8″. Growing up, I was slender and 209 lbs is the highest weight I have even been. I was miserable. After giving birth, I dealt with postpartum depression and the extra weight caused body consciousness issues. Ugh…
I get emotional just typing this out, but thank goodness I was excited about finding a great routine that would really work for me. I was able to lose 63 pounds and counting. It’s crazy! Now, I am very passionate about my health and making healthier choices. My current weight is 146 pounds.
Motivation: What kept you going even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation: Becoming a healthier ME. One day, I just woke up with the thought that I was tired of being and feeling depressed. I had this happy baby that depended on me, but I needed to take care of me as well!
After the delivery, I did breastfeed because they said that usually gets rid of the weight easily. For me, not so much. I knew that I wanted to find something that would work and that I could easily work into my lifestyle. I’m a busy mom and I have my own business, so it is tough finding time to work out and go to the gym with a then 6 month old baby.
How did you change your eating habits?
I found that the Keto lifestyle worked well for me. I didn’t go too overboard on eating extra meat or fat. I kept it simple.
- Breakfast: Vegan shake or eggs and bacon
- Snack: Cheese and nuts
- Lunch and Dinner: Meat and veggies
I did what the they called “lazy keto“, so some days I would allow myself one carb. I didn’t want to go cold turkey on the carbs because I feel like you crave them more when you can’t have them.
What did your workout routine look like?
To date, I have not been a workout warrior. I just recently started taking Pilates but that wasn’t part of my routine when I was actively losing weight.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in May 2017 and got to my goal in October 2017. So, it’s took 5 months. I’ve been maintaining since then.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson is being consistent. It’s key! Be consistent every day. Even if you slip up, you can keep moving forward. Small steps lead to big results!
