Transformation of the Day: Amber lost 23 pounds. She got really clear about what she didn’t want her life to be and realized that no one could change her life but her. One day at a time, she changed her habits and became healthier, stronger and more disciplined. Check out her story.
How often do we take photos or step on the scale and think, “I’ve got to change what I’m seeing.” I know I’m not the only one, and that’s how my story began.
How many years have begun with you saying this is going to be the year that I make it happen? I lost count of how many times I said that.
I didn’t know where to start. When I did it start, it was easier to just give up. Eventually I realized that I was going no where fast and that NO ONE could do it for me. I decided to go all in and that decision made all the difference.
I didn’t want to see that high number on the scale anymore. I didn’t want to look in the mirror and wish I could see something different. I didn’t want to go to the doctor’s office one day and hear that I was diabetic or that I have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. I wanted change… I needed it.
One day at a time I became healthier, stronger and more disciplined I also started to LOVE looking in the mirror. I stopped wishing that I would see something better because it was better. I started seeing what I knew I could achieve, a healthy and happier me. The truth is, you can have all the confidence in the world, but when you KNOW something needs to change and you make it happen, that confidence sky rockets. The after photo you see is what happened when I focused on my goals and put them before anything else.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eliminated fast food. I also started to pay close attention to macro and micro nutrients. Nothing fried or overtly sweet for me. I incorporated more fruits and more color into what I was eating (the more colorful, the better).
What did your workout routine look like?
I decided to commit to the Focus T 25 by Shaun T and Shakeology. I worked out Monday-Friday.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I went from 186 pounds to 163 pounds. I am 5’4″.
When did you start your journey?
This journey started two years ago.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that the power of the mind is SO real. That’s the key to weight loss. You have to believe in your ability to succeed and you have to be hungry for it. Otherwise, the yo-yo effect will continue to take place.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to stay the course and lead with your “why”. If you remain focused on why your journey is important, that’s all the fuel you need.
