What was your motivation?
My motivation was wanting to live a healthier and fit life. My father died when I was 13 years old from obesity-related health issues. I saw myself headed in the same direction. When I wanted to give up, I thought about how far I’d come, and that I didn’t want to let myself and my family down.
How did you change your eating habits?
I worked with a personal trainer, who gave me a nutritional plan to follow. I stopped eating anything that was processed, including dairy products. I eat lots of veggies, lots of protein, and drink lots of water.
What did your workout routine look like?
My workout routines include weights, cardio and interval training. I work out 6 days a week. I also teach Zumba!! In November of 2016, I became a certified Zumba instructor. I want to help and inspire other women who have struggled with their weight. Particularly, women over 40, who may think it’s too late. I was 43 years old when I started my journey.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My stating weight was 270 pounds. My current weight is 235 pounds. I would like to lose another 50 pounds. My height is 5ft, 7inches. My journey is far from over, I’m just getting started.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
I would tell others that want to lose weight. Start today, don’t wait for tomorrow. Get a plan and stick to it. And no matter what, don’t EVER GIVE UP!!!
