Transformation of the Day: LaToya lost 33 pounds. She is a disabled Air Force veteran and mom. Her journey has taught her that patience and consistency is very important. Check out her story.
I would like to share my story. I am a disabled veteran of the Air Force. I struggled with my weight in my 20s due to injuries I sustained in the military. I was pursing my Bachelors degree full time and the weight just continued to pile on. I reached my heaviest weight of 193 pounds after the birth of my baby girl and I knew I had to do something. I looked in the mirror, cried and couldn’t believe I allowed myself to get that size.
In 2013, I started my new lifestyle and I went from 193 pounds to 175 pounds. It took me 2 years due to having surgery during on my left knee. Due to the recovery, I wasn’t able to really work out. In Dec 2016, I restarted my journey at 178 pounds. Today, I am proud to say that I weigh 160 pounds at 5’6″. I have 15-18 more pounds to go to get the body that I want.
My eating habits didn’t change drastically. It was more about how I prepared my food. I also did intermittent fasting. If I started my first meal at 11 AM, I had to eat all of my calories by 7 PM. For exercise, I worked out 3 or more times per week, using the elliptical for cardio and doing weight lifting.
It is a lifestyle and there are no quick fixes. I am doing my best by taking my time to get the weight off and keep it off. My advice: Be consistent. It took me 8 years to gain the weight. I am only 18 months in and still on my journey. It takes time. If you stick with it and do it the right way, the weight will come off.
