My name is Tyrra and I want to share my story to help anyone who needs encouragement. This site has been a blessing to me during my weight loss journey. Reading the success stories has not only encouraged me, but I’ve also learned helpful tips along the way.
The first picture is of me at my heaviest. I weighed around 217 pounds. I didn’t recognize myself or realize that I was that big until I saw this picture. I’ve always struggled with my weight, but I’d never been that big. After looking at it in disgust, I knew I had to make a change. Turning 30 years old and being healthier for my kids were my biggest motivations.
I started my journey in November 2016. I began by simply cutting out things like fried foods and sweets. I also cut out eating after 7pm and drank water. No alcohol, juice… nothing. Just water! I fell in love with vegetables, especially broccoli, and only had baked or grilled meat (no red meat). Sometimes, I would incorporate Herbalife shakes into my routine. I instantly began to lose weight just by committing to those simple changes!
After losing about 20 pounds, I decided to do JJ Smith’s 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse before my 30th birthday arrived in January 2017. I’ve tried the cleanse before and never completed it. This time, I completed the whole 10 days and was down a total of 30 pounds by my 30th Birthday!
After that, I did another half smoothie cleanse and I tried low carbs and high protein foods. I basically ate some of the same foods that people who I followed on Instagram would eat who have had Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery. I figured that if eating this way helped them lose weight and maintain their weight after the surgery, it could help me too… and it did.
Eating the right foods and the overall content your diet is the biggest part of weight loss, but I exercised as well. I would workout at home in my mini gym, or at my workplace gym. I would also take walks. I basically tried lots of different ways of working out. I fell in love with the treadmill, but after a while I felt I was losing too much of my bottom. So, I decreased my treadmill time and researched more full body workouts. I love the old Turbo Jam DVDs and YouTube workouts, but my absolute favorite workout is simply walking outdoors.
This is a challenging process and something you have to work at everyday, but it’s so rewarding if you stick with it. I loved seeing how my body changed and I fell in love with the process. Throwing out my bigger clothes gave me a good feeling.
I’ve lost weight before and lost it fast with the assistance of diet pills, but I would gain it all back fast. This time was different, because I remained patient, didn’t take pills and prayed to God to help me through it. I’m still not at my goal weight, but I thank God that I’m not where I was!
