Transformation of the Day: Karessa lost 128 pounds. Her 3 year old son was her motivation. Giving up on her weight release journey would have been like giving up on him. She opted for gastric bypass surgery and commited to a healthy lifestyle to keep the weight off.
What motivated you? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my 3 year old son. He is very active and has so much energy that I couldn’t keep up. During this process, I’ve never wanted to give up, because giving up on my weight loss journey would be like giving up on him.
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I had the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure on Sep 13, 2016. For me, this was the best decision, as I needed something more permanent than a diet plan. I needed a tool to hold me accountable.
How did you change your eating habits?
After surgery, my eating habits changed drastically. Initially, I was only eating 2 ounces of food at a time. No bread, no sweets, and no soda. A high protein diet was strongly encouraged, with 60-90 ounces of protein per day. My vitamin game became super strong as well… lol.
What did your workout routines look like?
I workout 4 times a week for at least 30 min. I mainly do cardio. My goal is to run a 5k by the end of the year.
Starting weight/current weight
My starting weight was 333.3 pounds, and my current weight is 205.4 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
