Transformation of the Day: Jacqueline lost 52 pounds. She wanted to live a long life and spend as much time with her granddaughter as possible. Weight Watchers, regular exercise and self-examination were key to her success. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
I am blessed to have a super, loving granddaughter and I want to spend as much time with her as I possibly can. Seeing before and after photos of women on Facebook and Instagram and putting on clothes that are now too big for me also are sources of motivation.
What kept you going when you wanted to give up?
Self talk. Saying things like; “If I made it this far, I can make it to the end.” and “I trust the process.”
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits changed drastically, over time. I used the Weight Watchers program as a guide. I have not had a piece of fried chicken in a long time. I also cut out sugar, bread and cookies. Now, I eat more fruits and vegetables daily.
What did your workout routines look like?
My training regime consists of walking 5-7 days a week (3 days of doing 4 miles and 2 miles on the other days). I do resistance training and light weight lifting 3 times weekly at the gym. When it rains, I hit the elliptical in the gym. I always try to get the biggest bang for my buck.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 269 pounds and my current weight is 217 pounds. I’m 5’4″.
When did you start your journey?
On May 13, 2016, so it’s been a little over a year.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
This journey is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to get your mind RIGHT! Love yourself unconditionally. Do some honest self-evaluation and figure out the WHY? Why is food my “thing”? What is it that I not dealing with when I am eating? All things are possible!
