Transformation of the Day: Nakish lost 122 pounds. She’s gone from a size 28 to a size 14. Knowing that weight release doesn’t happen overnight and having the willingness to be patient with the process paid off big time for her. She took her time and did the work. Check out her story.
I have struggled with my weight all my life, but it really became a problem after I had a child in 2001. I gained a lot of weight after my pregnancy. I reached an all time high of 315 pounds in 2007. Imagine that weight on a 5’2″ girl. I got really depressed and went on lots of yo-yo diets, but nothing seemed to work. What really woke me up was when I bought a pair of Capri pants in a size 28 and couldn’t fit them. I cried so hard that day.
After about 4 years of yo-yo dieting, being frustrated, giving up, crying and being depressed, I said, “No more.” I started my journey by walking 2 times a week for 15 minutes. Then, I bumped it up to 30 minutes, 4 times a day. After about a year of doing that, I plateaued. My weight loss came to a stand still at 285 pounds in 2011.
So, I did some research and figured I had to change eating habits and add more exercise. In the later part of 2012, I stopped eating pork, red meat, sweets (cakes ,doughnuts etc) and fried foods. I started baking all my foods. For exercise, I started bike riding, walking for 4 miles and doing cardio 4 days a week.
Within 2 years, I got down to 230 pounds. I was advised to do things slowly so my body could get adjusted to losing weight. In 2013, I got sick and had an operation, so my weight loss and exercise had to be put on hold. Started again 8 weeks later after the surgery and I’ve kept going up til now.
Today, I’m glad to say that I weigh 193 pounds and I wear a size 13/14. I’m happy and still losing weight. Going forward, I’m focused on jogging, weight training to build building muscle and getting my body in shape.
My advice for anyone who trying to lose weight is to take your time. Don’t try to rush the process and don’t give up. In the end, your outcome will be well worth it. I’m here as a living testimony that it CAN BE DONE with HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!
