Transformation of the Day: Marnetta lost 109 pounds. She is a busy wife, mother and business owner who wasn’t feeling as beautiful inside as she looked on the outside. The LapBand, a low carb lifestyle and cardio are the tools she used to transform. Check out her story.
I weighed in at my highest weight of 289 pounds after the birth of my last son. I couldn’t take it
any more. I knew it was time for a change. Unlike a lot of people who want to lose weight, I wasn’t experiencing any health issues. I didn’t have any medical problems besides just being overweight. My issue was not feeling as beautiful as I made myself looked on the outside. So, I changed that!
I began my lifestyle change in 2013 after our big move from Louisiana to Colorado. I made the decision to use the “LapBand” as a weight loss tool in September 2014. I also embraced the High Fat/Low Carb way of eating to help me get my weight under control.
After surgery, I could only eat 1/2 cup of food. I cut out all sodas, rice and breads. I walked 2 miles or 45 minutes 3-5 days a week. I eat a lot of meat and vegetables. I have grilled chicken and green beans for dinner. I switch out the green beans for a salad for lunch. For breakfast, I eat bacon and eggs with a half of cup of grapefruit juice. I have grapefruit with every meal.
I lost over 100 pounds, going from 289 pounds to 180 pounds. I’m 5’4″ and I got to my goal weight of 180 lbs. in only a year. Not only do I look beautiful, but I feel beautiful and that’s what important to me. Taking photos has help me to stay on track. Everytime I felt like quitting. I would look at my pictures for motivation. I could see my process and where I came from. Yes, it has been a journey and I’m not done yet!
My advice: Stop making excuses about how busy you are. If I can do it, as a busy wife, mother and owner of a restaurant and a hair salon, you can do it too! Always make time for YOURSELF! Love yourself with #nofilters. #stretchmarksandall.
Get obsessed with yourself. Take a lot of pictures. Looking back on those images will help remind you of where you came from, and that you are doing a good job… even if the scale isn’t moving. Remember that in terms of weight loss, you may not have a scale victory, but an inches victory instead! I would take that victory anyday.
