Saturday was a very busy day so I had to take my smoothie with me. We went to ComicCon in Baltimore. Maybe, when I reach my weight loss goals, I can go in costume next year. I could be Storm! LOL. If you want to travel with your smoothies, here are some tips:
- A glass bottle or container is the best way to store your smoothie. A mason jar will do. Don’t use stainless steel.
- Smoothies can leave a good deal of gunk that you’ll have to clean out when the leftover smoothie dries on the inside of the container. Pick a container that is simple and will be easy to clean.
- Keep the oxygen out. Pick a container with a tight seal and fill it as close to the top as you can.
- Keep it cool. Use an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack. You can also substitute ice in your recipe for water you would normally use and use frozen fruit to keep the drink cool longer.
Today’s Recipes:
Mango Strawberry Orange Smoothie – 2 servings
- 1 orange (peeled)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 2 cups spinach
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 cup ice or 1 cup of water
Cucumber Berry Smoothie
- Juice from one whole cucumber (med to large)
- Juice from 3 pieces of celery
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup ice
- 1/2 cup water
Pineapple Berry Smoothie
- 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened raspberries
- 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
- 3/4 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
- 1 cup soy milk or 1% milk ( you can also substitute plain greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of water)

I am starting the smoothie challenge today and super hype about it. I was trying to do 5 small meals a day but now I am going to do 2 smoothies, one in the morning and evening and 3 small meals in between with my gallon a water along with my workout….. Looking for great results.

Hello everyone, had intentions to start the smoothie relay Sept. 1st and even though i bought veggies and fruit i was not finding time to make them. So today after having a EKG i left there and went down the street to Whole foods and found one of the recipes recommended on my phone and had the lady make 2 for me. the peach one and the first one. i like. then this evening i went to Target and got a Magic Bullet and veggies and fruit and in the morning i am praying for commitment. i ask that all pray for me bc i am really having a few struggles. One is knee surgery Oct 3. Second struggle coming off Prednisone. Feel horrible/depress.
thanks for all the support

Fae, I will pray for you. I also suggest you watch a free movie online called “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. I think seeing some other people with serious health issues get victory over their health by eating nutrient rich food may energize you.

These sound like great smoothie ideas. I am inspired and will go in the house today with the mind set to juice some veggies. I never thought to do it that way. I love celery and cucumbers. But was not sure exactly how I could add them. This is a great idea.
Darlene says
Is it just one smoothie a day and other food?
ajima says
H Darlene, We are doing a minimum of 2 smoothes per day. You can replace 2 meals with them or you can incorporate them as snacks…it all depends on your eating goals.
