Transformation of the Day: Priscilla lost 76 pounds. This proud mom of two gained 75 pounds during her second pregnancy. Clean eating and portion control helped her to get her eating habits in check. She also developed a love for running and is currently studying to become a personal trainer. Check out her story.
My name is Priscilla and I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters. During my first pregnancy, I gained 50 pounds. I was on bedrest from 19 weeks until the delivery of my first daughter on April 11, 2006. I was 37 years old at the time of her healthy delivery.
Fortunately, I was able to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight before getting pregnant for the second time at 39 years old. However, with this pregnancy, I was again placed on bedrest from 24 weeks until the successful delivery on May 11, 2008. During this pregnancy, I gained approximately 75 pounds.
I stopped weighing myself. Following the birth, I gave myself a good amount of time before I
decided to go hardcore and attempt to lose the weight. I started first by down-sizing my portion sizes. Then, I started walking and slowly worked up to running again. I walked six days a week until I built my muscle tone from being on bed rest. It took about 6 months. I started running races and enrolled in a local gym to incorporate weights in to my routine.
Also, during this time I did not eat any sweets or breads. I would only drink 4oz of orange juice in the morning and for the remainder of the day I drank water. I developed a very clean eating plan, including fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and no fried foods.
I am proud to say that after weighing over 211 pounds in 2008, I now weigh 135 pounds and have been able to keep the weight off! My height is 5’5″.
Currently, I am biking, running, and walking for exercise. I’ve run two 5k races and will be participating in an 8k in September. Additionally, I have started an exercising group that meets every Sat at 5:30am. I am currently studying to become a personal trainer.
No matter where you are with your weight challenge, I am here to say that “You can do it!” Having friends along will make the journey even smoother, so please invite folks to join you. With discipline and a good schedule you can meet your goals! Thank you for taking the time out to read my success story. Now, go out and create your own!
