Transformation of the Day: Elida lost 55 pounds. This mom of four and grandmother of three wanted to be there to see all of the major milestones and celebrations ahead for her family. She decided to have weight loss surgery in 2011 and has kept the weight off. She shared with us about her transformation.
What was your motivation?
My motivation to lose weight, was self-love! Yes! I have a strong Faith in God and his love for me gave me the courage to love myself at my lowest point. What inspired me when I wanted to give up, was my 4 beautiful kids and 3 grandbabies! Jenee, Renée, Lee and Lorenzo. Zamar, Jude and Jhett. I wanted to live again for them. We have so many more birthday parties to plan, and beach vacations to go on. I want to be there for Christmas dinners, high school graduations, Kindergarten musicals, recitals, football games, baseball games, T- ball, Little league, wrestling meets, weddings and so many more beautiful memories we get to create as a family. I’ve always wanted to live a healthy lifestyle, but in the past I was so overwhelmed by the weight I had gained. I started my journey in 2011. I had Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery in November 2011. By March 2012, I’d gone from a size 18 to a size 8.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating out. I cut out fast foods and fried foods. I began to eat more home cooked food, fruit, vegetables and lean meat. My daily goal is a 1300 calories.
What did you do in terms of exercise?
I never worked out before the weight gain, because I never had to. I had always been small. I wore a size 4 after having three children. However, I gained almost 65 pounds after having my 4th child. My workout routine was non-existent prior to surgery.
Today, I consider myself a #gymrat. My husband and I both had weight loss surgery and we both workout 4 times a week for 1.5 hours. I can walk on the treadmill for 58 minutes, setting my incline on 15 with a speed at 2.9 and burn 600 calories!
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 210 pounds. My current weight is 155 pounds. Height: 5’7″.
