Transformation of the Day: Mary Ann lost 50 pounds. She did her research and realized that it’s not all about the numbers on the scale. It’s about being healthy for life. Green smoothies, healthy meals and working out regularly were all key to her success. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
There was many days, I felt like giving up or giving in, because it seemed like I wasn’t losing any weight. I didn’t realize that inches mattered too. At first, I only focused on losing pounds and didn’t focus on being healthy. I started to get educated by reading and asking questions. I came off high blood pressure meds. I was feeling better, looking good and wearing smaller clothing. I stayed motivated by living a healthier lifestyle. I have shared my journey and it has become an inspiration to those who have followed me on this journey. I have to keep in mind why I started, and let God know how much I appreciate the temple He has entrusted me with.
How did you change your eating habits?
I’ve tried so many diets, cleanses, and fasts. It was only when I did the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse that I began to change my poor eating habits. After coming off the cleanse, I continued to drink green smoothies (even today), and I cut out meats, except grilled fish and chicken. Through messing up and getting some things right, I finally found what works for me… lots of fruits/veggies, grilled fish and chicken.
What did your workout routines look like?
I started out doing random workouts at first, just to be doing something. I started out at the Circuit Room at Planet Fitness (3-4 days a week). Then, I joined LA Fitness, where I did Zumba and Aquafit Classes for months (3-4 days a week). After that, I started weight training and now I have become hooked. I do 3 days of weight training/cardio, 3 days of cardio and one rest day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started out weighing 235 pounds and wearing 16/18. As of today, I weigh 185 pounds and I wear a size 11. My height is 5’6″
How long did your transformation take?
I started in July 2015, but became serious in November of the same year. I’m still transforming. I’m excited about what the future looks like for me. My best is yet to come.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to plan, prepare and take one day at a time. Most of all, set goals and understand that progress doesn’t always have to be based off numbers on the scale.

Your testimony is what I needed to see this morning. Great job and keep up the good work. I have been on my journey since November, but haven’t lost much weight, but my clothes are fitting much better.
I had a meltdown and cried most of yesterday. Your testimony made me feel better this morning because this isn’t just about a weight loss journey,
but being healthy as well. I know that my lifestyle change has benefited me greatly even though the scale isn’t showing it. My faith in God is strong and I know that it was meant for me to read your testimony.
Thanks for sharing. I will not be defeated.

I am also working on practicing the mindset that the goal is the healthy lifestyle and not the weight. Your story is a source of inspiration for me to keep working hard on keeping my daily diet clean and my body moving because both are good for it.
