My motivation for losing weight was seeing my mom suffering a painful death from diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney problems, and heart problems. I was also borderline diabetic and I decided that I had to make a change to save my life.
I started my journey in 2014. I definitely had some ups and downs, trying everything on the market, until I realized in July of 2015 that there was really no quick fix. I started using Herbalife products, cut out fried foods and started walking. I walked anywhere from 3-10 miles a day. Then, I cut out pork and beef. I eat chicken and fish, which always is baked or grilled. I love fresh, raw vegetables and steamed vegetables. My main beverage is water. I also drink green tea, hot and iced, with raw honey instead of sugar. For exercise, I am working with a personal trainer in the gym 4-5 days a week.
When I started my journey, I weighed 273 pounds at 5’3″ tall. My current weight is 220 pounds. My goal weight is 195 pounds and I am well on my way to meeting that goal soon.
My biggest lesson I’ve learned is take one day at a time. I will fall off the healthy trail occasionally, but I will never give up. I will not make excuses or accept excuses from myself. The best advice I would give to people who want to lose weight: Figure out how your body works and what works for you. Also, don’t compare your time frame for weight loss with anyone else’s. Work on you for you.
