Transformation of the Day: Quiana lost 120 pounds. When she realized that while just walking on campus she was out of breath and experiencing back pain, it was time for a lifestyle change. She joined a local fitness group, changed up her eating habits and has gotten great results in a little over 2 1/2 years. Check out her story.
I don’t know what my weight was in the picture in the red but when I saw it I knew it was time
to make a change. I didn’t change right then, but a couple of weeks later I was walking on my college campus. I was out of breath and my back was hurting really bad. I made the decision that day I had to do something.
I wanted to know what my weight was, so I went to the doctor and weighed in at 368 pounds at 5’9″. I was so embarrassed that I went home and cried for the rest of the day. The next day I went and joined a group called Fit Nation with trainer Toye Bogard in Memphis. I talked to him and he informed me that if I stuck with him I would reap the benefits. This was in May 2014. It’s January 2017 now and I can definitely say he stuck to his word.
I ordered my Herbalife and as soon as it came I immediately started. I cut out a lot of processed foods, bread, sweets and carbs. At the beginning of my journey, I was focused in counting calories but I just recently switched over to low carb/keto and I am loving the results. My carb intake is under 20 carbs a day. I eat a lot of chicken and fish now (with little beef) and a lot of green veggies.
In the beginning of my journey, my main focus was HIIT training with my fitness group. That alone helped me in lose the majority of my weight. Now, I’m still focused on those workouts along with weight lifting in the gym. I recently started Intermittent Fasting and Fasted Cardio and that is working really well for me.
I’m proud to say now that I am 120 pounds down. I look and feel so much better. The members of Fit Nation are my family. We don’t just workout, we build relationships as well while having fun. Although I still have work to do, I am definitely enjoying this lifestyle. My focus now is to drop a little more weight (50 lbs.) and lower my body fat percentage. I know I can get this done. I just keep thinking back on how far I have come and that is definitely what keeps me motivated.
The key to this lifestyle is to find what works for you and your body. I have heard so many negative things about certain things pertaining to this lifestyle. I’m glad I don’t base my opinion if things off of other people’s experiences. Everyone’s body is not the same. My advice for anyone just beginning their journey or those who are thinking about giving up is Don’t. Go deep, find your Why and let that guide you. Why are you doing this? Why did you start? Everytime things seem to become shaky or I even have thoughts of giving up, I always go back to what my trainer told me and that’s think of my Why.
