Update 2017: Shout out to Bebe. Her current weight is 216 pounds and she’s lost a total of 111 pounds.
The way I’ve maintained my weight loss and continue to lose weight is by eating a low carb diet and working out 5-6 days out the week. I don’t eat rice, bread or pasta. If I do, it is considered a treat meal for me. I drink a gallon of water everyday. Apple Cider Vinger is one of the things that has helped me out a lot on my journey. Two times a week I focus on strictly cardio. I do cardio for 60 minutes. I either go running, do kickboxing or cycling. On the other days, I do a lot of calisthenics exercises mixed with cardio. I lift weights for about 25-30 minutes to build my strength. There is nothing like a strong woman.
One of the main things I’ve learned in this journey is that you can’t out work a bad diet. In the past, I would go to the gym, kill my session, come home and eat whatever I wanted. I had to change that mindset quick, because it wasn’t working. I felt like I was going to the gym for no reason. What I tell myself everyday is “Bebe, lose the weight. The food you want will always be here.” It’s mind over matter.
Advice: The exercise you hate the most is the one you’ll do the most. For example, I hate burpess, but I’ve been doing there for so long that I’ve started to fall in love with them. Just do it. If losing weight is all you think about, all you talk about, just go ahead and do it. What do you have to lose besides a couple of pounds? It’s also important to surround yourself with people who are on the same journey as you. Having someone else there doing it with you makes things easier. Lastly, learn to say NO! Don’t say you’ll eat and and work it out later.
Please do your research and do what works for you. Don’t compare your day one to someone else’s day 450. Everybody is different. Figure out what works for you and get to it. I don’t recommend having an at home scale, because you are always going to want to weight yourself. If you don’t see the number that you want to see you’ll get discouraged and eventually give up.
Transformation of the Day: Bebe lost 65 pounds. This young lady had success with weight loss in the past, but after giving birth to her son in 2015, she pounds continued to pile on. She went back to what worked, reducing carbs and exercising, and has gotten great results. Check out her story.
A little bit about myself: My name is Bebe and I’m 24 years young. I started losing weight back in 2013-2014. I lost 85 pounds by working out twice a day and having no carbs. Then, I got pregnant in April 2015 and started gaining excessive amount of weight. I didn’t feel bad because I was pregnant and I was able to say, “I’m gaining weight because I’m pregnant”.
I had my baby at 315 pounds and a week later I dropped down to 285 pounds. Then, out of no where, I started gaining more and more weight. I tried working out in March 2016, but I was not consistent. I would work out, but I still ate whatever I wanted.
In June, I stood in front of the mirror and was very unhappy about what I was seeing. I couldn’t believe I let myself go like that. I started working out on June 5, 2016. I began by walking everyday for an hour. Later on, I started working out twice a day. 1 hour cardio is a must for me, Now, I work out 6 days a week. My workouts are made up of one hour of cardio (mandatory) and then I do strength training/lifting for 35 minutes. For the last couple of minutes of my workout session, I go into the sauna.
I’m on a no carb diet and that’s what really helped me. I completely stopped eating rice, bread, and cut out all sweets. I stop drinking juice and soda. Now, I only drink water and tea, nothing else. A gallon a day is a must for me.
I started at 327 pounds and now I weigh 262 pounds. I’m 5’8″ tall.
Motivation: I started meditating, praying and that’s what kept me moving forward. I want to be around my son for a long time, so I had to switch up my lifestyle ASAP. What inspires me to keep going is looking back at where I was compared to how far I’ve come now. It will only get better.
Anything is possible. All you have to do is put your mind to it. If you keep telling yourself you can’t, then guess what YOU CAN’T. The tongue is a very powerful thing. I have never had surgery. Just hard work and dedication. I was inspired to start being dedicated to fitness by looking at other people share their stores on Instagram. That really helped me a lot. So, now I’m sharing my story and hoping I can help someone else out. Losing weight can be very hard, but it’s possible.
