Transformation of the Day: Ashley lost 48 pounds. This hard working mom wanted to make any sacrifices necessary to living a long, healthy life for herself and her son. After suffering a Pulmonary Embolism earlier this year, she leaned on faith and took action to change her life. “DO IT! You can do anything you put your mind to. Pray and ask God to lead and guide you.” Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
My son was my motivation and inspiration when I wanted to give up. He did not ask to be put in this world so I had to make some sacrifices for him. I knew I wanted to live a long and healthy life for him. I want to be able to run around the park or yard without feeling tired all the time.
My journey started back in May 2016. I was hospitalized for a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot) in my lungs. I prayed and prayed. I told God that I wanted a healthier lifestyle for my sake and my son’s sake. In the past, I even considered having Lipo surgery numerous of times, but a good friend of mine told me to GRIND HARD and stop trying to take the easy way out. If it was truly easy then everybody would do it.
How did you change your eating habits?
I start eating more baked food and veggies. I cut back on fried foods, carbs, and sweets. I do not eat after eight and if I do, I have a piece of fruit. I also use ACV everyday after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I take a tablespoon each time. Occasionally, I mix it with water, lemon juice, organic honey and Cayenne pepper.
What did your workout routine look like?
I go to the gym at least 5 times a week, even after a long 12 hour work shift, to do cardio and ab exercises. My workouts usually last from 1.5 hours to 2 hours. I also joined a boot camp called ReVamp in Homewood, AL. When I joined the boot camp, I was asked why I joined. I told the girl who asked me that I wanted to be healthier. She then asked me what made me decide to want to be healthier. I told her laying up in the hospital for 6 days and not being able to see my son and that was the last straw for me. I want to live and see my son become a KING. I want to help raise my grandkids. That’s why. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m far from where I use to be. All I have to do is keep motivating myself.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 295 pounds and my current weight is 247 pounds. My height is 5’10”. Everyone always says, “Oh Ashley, you’re tall so you don’t look like you weight that much.”, but I felt terrible and my weight was starting to mess with my self esteem.
What is your advice for others who want to lose weight?
My advice for people who want to lose weight: DO IT! You can do anything you put your mind to. Pray and ask God to lead and guide you. The great Dr. Eric Thomas said, “When you want it as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
