Transformation of the Day: Brittany lost 69 pounds. This young lady’s motivation was realizing that she was too close for comfort to weighing 300 pounds. It was time to change her lifestyle to get the results she’d been seeking for years. Portion control and finding time for exercise were 2 major factors in her success. Check out her story.
I’m Brittany and I’m 24 years old. My starting weight was 282 pounds on March 9, 2015. Since then, I have lost 69 pounds, for a current weight of 213 pounds. (Height: 5’2″) My motivation to start working on a better me was seeing how close I was to 300 lbs. There have been many times that I would start working out but eventually I would give up. Over the course of time, I had to realize that I had to find my motivation and a desire to really want to see change and get results.
During this process, I also paid close attention to my calorie intake. At the beginning of my journey, I used My Fitness Pal and began logging my food and water intake. I also cut back on food, or should I say I began eating proper portion sizes. One of my bad habits was eating fast food. Whenever I was hungry, if there wasn’t anything at home I would grab some fast food. I’ve definitely cut back on fast food tremendously and increased my water intake.
I started eating more fruit, like watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, etc. I LOVE salads and vegetables, like greens, broccoli, green beans, etc. I used to fill up my plates with food. Now, I eat smaller portions. When I first started out on my journey, I really used the My Fitness Pal app a lot, but now that I have FitBit and I use that app more. When it comes to food, I still make sure that I’m playing close attention to the servings sizes. I would say that I eat some of the same foods I use to eat. I just cut back on eating a lot of fried food and eat baked foods when it comes to meat.
In August of 2015, I joined Planet Fitness and have loved going there ever since. Just recently, I purchased the Fitbit Charge 2 and this has increased my motivation even more, because I’m able to challenge other friends. I’m a Medical Secretary, which means I’m sitting down more than I’m on my feet. On my lunch breaks, I would go walk around the neighborhood to get in some exercise. Any other time away from work, I would go to the gym, get on the elliptical
and do arm and leg exercises. If I can’t make to the gym, I always find a park and go for a walk. When I started getting more active I would try to exercise at least 3 days a week. At this point, I make sure that I do some type of exercise every day for at least 30 mins.
I am still going strong. Like I always say, “I’m a #workinprogress.” I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m close. My goal right now is to get completely out of the 200s and then get down to about 175 pounds.
My advice to those who want to begin a journey of a BETTER YOU is you have to start somewhere. Whether its working out 3 days a week or for 15 minutes a week, you have to start. Acknowledge your bad habits when it comes to eating. Find what motivates you. You have to want it for yourself. Never give up. I’m not saying that this process will be easy, but you can find your motivation, stick to the plan and make it happen. You can do it. Lets go!
