Elizabeth lost over 150 pounds

November 11, 2016 by Ajima Jackson 1 Comment

I haven’t done a transformation Thursday in a while…

A post shared by Elizabeth Rock (@lizzy_rockz) on Jun 21, 2018 at 4:41pm PDT

Transformation of the Day: Elizabeth lost over 150 pounds. The passing of her grandmother woke her up and made her focus on her health. Following a strict low carb plan and finding a love for running were just two of the factors that have contributed to her success. Check out how she released the weight.

Starting and Current Weight
I’ve lost 150+ pounds on a very strict low carb diet and by working out regularly (no surgery). I lost count of what size pants I wore. At a size 22 pants, I just would always wear legging and I definitely was wearing 3X/4X shirts. Right now, I wear a size 12 pants and fit small to medium shirts. My height is 5’6″

What was your motivation to lose the weight?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been overweight. I’ve lost weight before but I would always gain it back plus more. My grandmother passed away about a year ago and that woke me up fast, because I believe a lot of the complications she dealt with where preventable.

How did you change your eating habits?
I joined a weight loss clinic called Transform Institute. They helped me tremendously throughout my journey. I haven’t eaten any bread, pastas, potatoes or rice in almost a year. I haven’t drank any alcohol either. I don’t even eat fruit. I will continue to be this strict with my low carb eating until I get to my goal weight and then I will re-evaluate my eating habits. I mostly eat veggies and protein in the form of eggs, cheese, meat and seafood.

What did your workout routines look like?
I set a goal that no matter what, I have to work out at least three times a week. No excuses. That’s how I’ve been living my life. I usually do more than three days of exercise a week but there is no way that I will not get three sessions in. In the beginning, I was going to the gym. I ended up signing up for a sprint triathlon and that’s when I started really training my body to run, swim and bike. Right now, all I’ve been focusing on is running because I ran a half marathon on November 6th and I will be running in the Boston Marathon in 2017.

How long did your transformation take?
It will be a year in December.

What is your advice for others who want to lose weight?
This is not a diet it’s a lifestyle and the faster you realize that, I believe great things will happen for you. Your biggest enemy in this journey will be yourself. If I can do it, then I no anyone else can. Your mindset will just need to change. You will need to change your habits as well. When you start, just keep on going even on bad days. Don’t tell yourself your going to start again on Monday. Just pick up where you left off.

I am currently training for the Boston Marathon 2017 with Team HOPe. If you would like to donate please click on the link in my Instagram bio. Anything helps! Instagram: @lizzy_rockz
