Transformation of the Day: Robin lost 40 pounds. Her motivation was getting off hypertension medication. She also had a great support system to push and encourage her, including her three sisters who were on their own weight release journeys along with her. Check out how she took action with healthy eating and exercise.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was being put on medication for hypertension. I also just tired of being out of breath and having back pains. My inspiration was being around for my husband and my son. They are both very active and athletic. I wanted to be able to fully enjoy the physical activities that they were interested in. My three sisters motivated me as well. We were all on a weight loss journey together. That encouraged and inspired me to keep pushing. They let me know that I was not alone in this and that they were with me every step of the way!
How did you change your eating habits?
I began eating a lot less. Portion control was very important in my weight loss. If I hadn’t started doing my meal prepping for the week, I don’t think I would have been as successful. I began to eat more green vegetables and protein. I also started drinking lots of water, about a gallon or so a day. I also stopped eating after 8:00 pm and NO MORE LATE NIGHT SNACKS! Lol
I cut out carbs, sugary snacks and sugary drinks, which I loved so much before. My worse fear was not being able to let go of the sweets, but I gradually started using alternatives. If I craved candy, I could have a frozen banana topped with natural peanut butter or raw chocolate instead.
What did your exercise routine look like?
I jump started my efforts by strictly walking for exercise 4-6 days a week for the first 4 months. Then, I joined a gym and begin working out. I did 30 to 45 minutes of cardio and 30 to 45 minutes of weight training 3-6 days a week in the gym. Now, I do both, walking and working out in the gym.
Starting weight/Current weight
I’ve lost 40 pounds in since October 2015 by changing my eating habits and exercising. My starting weight was 241 pounds and my current weight is 197 pounds. I am 5′ 10″ tall.
What is your advice for others who want to lose weight?
My advice: Please, just stick with it. You may not see results right way, but keep pushing until you do.
