Transformation of the Day: Jessica lost 127 pounds, going from a size 24 to a size 10. After suffering with depression and low self-esteem, she opted for weight loss surgery and began an intense exercise regime. Check out her journey.
After suffering with depression and low self-esteem for years, I started my weight loss journey in January 2015 at 330 pounds. I joined Orange Theory Fitness and began a high intensity interval training (HIIT) program, going 2 to 3 days a week.
In November 2015, I underwent a vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) after years of struggles with my weight and depression. I was motivated by the desire to get my life back and start living life to the fullest.
I changed my eating habits to a low carb/high protein diet after surgery and continued my workouts 5-6 days a week. I don’t drink pop and I gave up sugary snacks, pasta and bread. Now, I like eating things like brussels sprouts, chicken breast and salmon. For a snack, I do treat myself to popcorn. If I’m in the mood for something sweet, I’ll even pop a mini bag of kettle corn.
I’m now down 127 lbs to 203 pounds at 5 ’10”. Today I’m wearing a size 10, down from a size 24. Now, I’m 8 lbs. from my goal weight of 190 pounds. My whole life has changed. I see fitness and healthy eating as way of life now. I strongly believe if you trust the process and work hard anyone can take control of their life.
The only piece of advice for others out there who want to lose weight is you have to trust the process. Never give up because if you put in the work you will see results!
The one thing that inspired me to keep going when I wanted to give up was that I knew it would be worth it in the end. I knew every day that I kept going I was one day closer to my goal. My big Why?… Why didn’t I do this sooner?
