Transformation of the Day: Iesha lost 50 pounds, going from a size 20 to a size 12/14. As a teen, she lost some of her hearing and that led to depression and emotional eating. Years, later she has worked to turn her health around and release the weight. “I have to remind myself that this is a lifestyle change and not a race. There will be good days and bad ones.” Check out her story.
My name is Iesha and I’m 30 years old. Since the age of 5, I have been overweight. I was never taught how to eat healthy. As a teenager, I started losing some of my hearing and that caused me to fall into a deep depression. Food was my refuge. I’d sleep and eat my day away. Fast foods and junk foods were Bae. It wasn’t until the scale almost tipped 300 pounds, that I realized it was time to get my life together.
By counting calories and working out to various fitness dads at home and I lost 70 pounds. However, I eventually gained 45 lbs. of that back.
January 2015 is when I started my weight loss journey again. I weighed 265 pounds and wearing a size 20 jeans. I cut out the junk foods, drank more water, and did cardio 5 days a week. I tried low carb, high fat lifestyle for a few months, and now I’m currently doing the Whole30 plan. I work out at least an hour a day, 4-5 times a week. Doing a mixture of cardio, HIIT, and weights.
I’m 5’6″ and I currently weigh 215 pounds. Now, I wear a size 12-14. That’s 50 pounds down so far!
What keeps me motivated is my health. I feel great! My ankles are no longer swollen at night and my energy is through the roof. I’m still a work in progress. I have to remind myself that this is a lifestyle change and not a race. There will be good days and bad ones. Consistency is key! Pick yourself up when you fall down and keep on going! Never give up on you!
