Transformation of the Day: Charm lost 77 pounds. Since she was a teen, weight loss was a struggle, and the weight gain continued with 2 pregnancies. In 2015, she started trying to figure out what works for her to create lasting results, not just a quick fix. Check out how she took action to change her life.
I am on a journey to my_own_perfect. I have struggled with losing weight since I was a teenager! I have a son and daughter (ages 8 and 4), and I gained 50 pounds with each pregnancy! Thank God my husband has always loved me for who I am, but I did not love the way I looked!
I love food, but now I know how to eat and what to eat. I do not eat perfectly, but I eat a WHOLE lot better! In July of 2015, I started slowly by eating smaller portions and cutting out fried foods. I bought a Groupon for Hot Yoga and went once a week. It was horrible at first because physically it was very difficult for me, but I did not give up. I was down about 30 pounds by April 2016 just by doing
that.
On April 1, 2016, I purchased a Fitbit, and that is when my life truly changed. I had no clue that I was so competitive, and Fitbit was exactly what I needed to give myself a personal push! I went from walking on average 6,000 steps a day to walking 20-25,000 steps a day during challenges and 12-15,000 steps a day on average. I also purchased in-home walking DVD’s from Amazon that I would do daily. I would put on my headphones and take walks to the park with my children, or just walk around the neighborhood as an outlet after dinner. I work at a school, so I would also walk the halls during passing periods with my students.
Since April 1, 2016 I lost another 47 pounds. That is 77 pounds down since July 2015. At my highest weight, I wore a size 24/26. Now, I wear an 18/20 and I’m 5’9″. My goal size is a 14/16. I love my curves, just not to many curves!
Since April 2016, I also started to do intermittent fasting Monday-Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner between those hours. I stay under 2,200 calories a day and drink about 4 liters of water a day. I eat low carb meals with 1 cheat day a week. Intermittent fasting allows my body to process the food that I eat during the hours that I do not eat. I also do Yoga on my own at home 3-4 times a week.
No diet plan or surgeries. I just had a desire to do better and the will to stick to it! This has not been an easy fix for me, and I have done at least 20 or more fad diets in the past. I always wanted to lose weight fast, but I had to realize that I had to get my mind right in order to actually lose weight and keep it off. I had to find something that truly worked for ME! I love being active now, and to think at first I could barely walk some days due to knee pain.
We can’t redo this thing called life. Change is a process, and we all have to start somewhere!
