Kiowana lost 45 pounds. She’s a member of the US Army and a proud, dedicated mother and wife. We shared her story back in Dec 2015. Here is a recap of her journey:
Currently I’m still in the Army and I help other women who are struggling with their weight and eating. I’m a PhD student, Author, Moebius Syndrome Advocate, Certified Personal Trainer, with a certification in Women’s Fitness. I am also a Health and Fitness Coach.
My family is my motivation. My husband and boys are my everything. I know that in order to take care of them, I need to take care of myself. I am no good if I’m sick or unhealthy. I have been in the Army since I was 17 years old. I am 30 years old now.
Fitness has always been a part of my life. When I got pregnant with my second son, I thought the weight would come off easily like it did with my first son. That didn’t happen. I had to work for it. Seriously. I also incorporate health and fitness into my family. Everyone works out. I let my boys be children but I also teach them the importance of healthy eating.
I controlled my portion sizes. I also cut down on sugar and heavy carbs a little at a time. I don’t cut out something completely. I shorten the amount or portions. (more info on her eating habits) I do all at-home workouts. I workout about 6-7 times a week. My at home workouts are from 30-60 minutes. I’m in control of when I workout. If my little ones need attention, I make it a family thing or entertain them.
I started out at 185 pounds and I currently weigh 140 pounds. My height is 5’6″. It took me about 6 months to lose the weight. I started my journey in the summer 2015.
My advice for others: Don’t give up, stay away from quick fix things you see on the Internet. It will be hard work, it will get frustrating, but be patient, eat clean, workout, and the weight will come off.
