Transformation of the Day: Cheretta lost 45 pounds. After years of trying to lose the pounds and dealing with sleep apnea, this petite diva felt that it was time to make some changes. As she approached the age of 40, she began to make changes to her lifestyle and seek out the help she needed to get lasting results. Check out her journey.
After years of yo-yo dieting and battling with sleep apnea, I was approaching the Big 40. I felt like I needed to do something to get my health on track, so I started by cutting out coffee and junk food in December 2015. Then in January, I began doing the Daniel Fast with my church. I felt that if I could get my eating habits together then I would be good. Lastly, I started working out in February with a wonderful trainer named Jonathan Williams from Over the Edge Fitness. He gave me a meal plan and challenged me to work out with him at least three days a week. It has been a journey but I feel absolutely amazing. I am excited that my health is thriving.
What was your motivation?
My number one motivation was to be healthy. I didn’t like that way I was feeling and I knew that if I didn’t make changes it wouldn’t be good. I feel like a new woman. My energy is great and my husband is my greatest supporter. I also believe that God wants me to be healthy and whole.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by cutting out the coffee, chocolate candy and fast food restaurants. I began to pay attention to when I was eating and who I was eating with. I think I had just become a social eater. I used a modified version of Paleo and followed a meal plan. This way I wouldn’t make bad choices because I wasn’t prepared. I stopped eating processed foods and upped my intake of fruits, vegetables and water.
What did your workout routines look like?
I work out 3-4 times with my trainer Jonathan. We typically run a ½ mile to warm up, followed by weight lifting and full body exercises.
Starting weight/Current weight?
My starting weight was 220 pounds and my current weight is 175 pounds. I’m 5 feet, 0 inches tall.
How long did your transformation take?
I started in December 2015 and I’m still in the process. I would like to lose about 12-15 more pounds.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
The advice I would give someone is to “get started”. The hardest part for me was just starting the process. Once you do, be consistent and trust the process. It will yield results!
