Transformation of the Day: Shajuana lost 83 pounds. In the past, she tried all kinds of diet plans and methods for losing weight without getting lasting results. At the start of 2016, proud this mom found a bootcamp program that turned her life around. Now, she’d dedicated to eating nutritious meals and working out on a regular basis. Check out her journey.
My name is Shajuana and I’m from Long Beach California. I’m 38 years old and I have a 7 year old son who is my world. I have been overweight since high school. I have tried all the popular diets and even had the lapland surgery in 2008. I lost 75 pounds with the Lapband, but eventually gained all the weight back.
I just became mentally tired of being overweight. Then, my friends told me to join a local boot camp at The Camp Transformation Center in Long Beach. I was skeptical about joining because I felt like it wouldn’t work for me. Despite that, I joined in January 2016 and lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks. That motivated me to keep going because I wanted to lose more weight. At times, I felt discouraged and wanted to give up, but I had to tell myself that I’m worth it and that my hard work would pay off in the end.
My eating habits completely changed. I don’t eat any red meat, or pork. No soda, dairy products chips, candy, juice, fried foods, or bread. I only eat chicken, ground turkey, tuna, brown rice, yams, sweet potatoes, eggs, spinach, celery, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc. I know it sounds boring, but I make my meals different each time by using a cookbook from my camp. I drink a gallon of water everyday.
I workout 5-6 times a week for 1 hour at my camp. I love working out there, because we are put into small groups so you don’t feel alone. We have several different workout stations. For example, at station #1 we will do squats holding a weight for 1 minute, then go on to the next station. We also do jumping jacks, burpees, mountain climbers, etc. The workouts are really intense but I love it. I also love my boot camp because you pay a fee when you start and when you lose your goal weight you get the money back.
As of today, I have lost a total of 83 pounds. My goal weight is 100 pounds. My advice to anybody that wants to lose weight is that you have to do this for yourself and nobody else. You matter, at the end of the day. My starting weight was 295 pounds. I currently weigh 212 pounds and I’m 5’5″. My before picture was taken in Dec 2015 and my after picture was taken on September 5, 2016.
