Iyabo lost 16 pounds and gained 6 pounds of muscle. Even though she’d been working out, she wasn’t eating right. High blood pressure and a lack of energy were not working for her. This electoral engineer is now a wellness coach. Check what she shared with us.
I’m a 32 year old electrical engineer and now wellness coach for the last 4 years. Before my transformation, I worked out 3 to 4 days a week but my nutrition was horrible. I had high blood pressure at the age of 28, was lethargic and was at my heaviest weight.
I’ve lost 16 pounds and added on 6 pounds of lean muscle mass. Today, I’m in the best shape of my life. I got the weight off with proper nutrition and by changing my lifestyle. Now, I help others around the look and feel the way I do. I own a nutrition club in Maryland where we hold workouts for the community 3 days a week.
What was your motivation?
I’m motivated by wanting to stay in the best shape and health of my life.
What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
Seeing many of my friends who always gave up once they started. I knew I would be an example for many with my perseverance.
How did you change your eating habits?
I made sure that I meal prepped more and are out less. No more fast food, sodas and juice. I may drink once every 3 weeks.
What did your workout routines look like?
I do cardio 2-3 times a week. I’m cycling around town, as well as doing HIIT. I do yoga once a month.
Starting weight/Current weight
Started at 174 pounds (my heaviest ever) with high blood pressure and feeling very lethargic. Currently, I weigh 165 pounds (I dropped 16 lbs of fat. I went down to 158 lbs. and then put on 7 lbs of lean muscle).
What is your height?
5’8″
How long did your transformation take?
2 months. After that, I gradually put on healthy muscle.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Take it one day at a time. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Have an accountability partner. Also, if your friends/family have unhealthy lifestyles, you may want to distance yourself from them somewhat, hang out less or invite them to join you. “Many friends will be quick to have fun and party, but slow to get healthier and workout”.
