Update: Jemeko has lost more than 80 pounds!
Jemeko lost over 60 pounds, going from a 28 to a size 18. She is a registered nurse who witnessed the effects of obesity and wanted to be a better example for the people she serves every day. Check out what she shared with us about taking action to release the pounds.
I am Jemeko and I am from Mississippi, better known as the fattest state. For so long , I didn’t think my weight was a problem. When you’re from the south, most of the time you’re called thick and curvy. People just settle with that. One day I woke up and accepted that I am morbidly obese, not thick, and that’s when I started to change. What is even worse is that I am a registered nurse and I seen first hand how obesity affects people’s health and lives in general. When I wanted to give up, I thought about my patients that I care for and how I can inspire them to live a healthier life by living healthy myself .
I started my journey on December 15, 2015. I was following a low carb/high fat eating style for a while, but I’ve recently started transitioning to being a vegetarian (as of August 2016). I work out 5 times a week. My workouts mostly consist of walking or jogging 3 miles. I also do strength training 3x weekly.
I lost over 60 pounds and still have a long way to go! I used to wear a size 28, and now I am in a size 18. My height is 5’7″ and my transformation took six months.
My advice for others is to do what works best for your body. No matter how many times you fall, get back up!
