Transformation of the Day: Natasha lost 180 pounds with gastric bypass surgery and hard work. She had to change her eating habits and workout 4-6 days a week for these great results. An unhealthy relationship led to lot of emotional eating, binge eating, high blood pressure and weight gain. Check out what she shared with us about her journey.
I have lost 180 pounds with the help of gastric bypass surgery. In 2013, I got into a relationship that I thought was going to be my end all! We rushed and moved in together after just 3 months of talking online (smh). After the first year, I began to regret this relationship but decided to settle for it thinking that it was what I deserved. I thought I would be picky to look for what my heart truly wanted, so I began to EAT y’all! I mean whole pizzas and soda by the liter. I was just pure over doing it by trying to find other ways to be happy through food.
I blew up to 365 pounds, my highest weight. My blood pressure was 172/117 because of weight and stress from the toxic relationship. I went on a trip to Eureka with Radha Jessani, who at that time was just a co-worker. As I was telling her about my life, she looked at me and had a come to Jesus talk with me! Needless to say, we left as co-workers but came back as friends. I prayed, meditated and cried a lot. I came to the understanding that I deserve to be truly happy, and that started with ending my relationship! Once that happened, my blood pressure dropped to 142/89. It was still high, but much better.
Then, I talked to my doctor about weight loss options. On July 6 2015, I had gastric bypass. Prepping for surgery was way harder than I’d thought, but it has been the best decision I could have made!
I changed my whole lifestyle after surgery. I started to get more active. I started working out 4-6 times a week and ate healthier. I cannot remember the last time I had a soda and I use to be the soda queen, lol! I meal prep throughout the week and calorie count. I do a low carb/high protein diet and eat no more than 1200 calories a day. Today, I work out 4-6 times per week and do 45-60 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of strength training.
My stats: My highest weight was 365 pounds. My surgery weight was 338 pounds. My current weight is 185 pounds! My height is 5’7″. The surgery was not an easy way out for me. Trust me, I put in work, but it definitely gave me the tools and resources I needed to be successful. I would like to get down to 160-175 pounds.
I have always had high self esteem, but honey I am living in my true self now! I have changed not just in terms of weight but also emotionally, mentally and physically! The person I was before is not here. She has truly evolved and will continue too!
Gastric bypass is not the only way to be successful. My brother, Evan Broussard Mosley, has been successful the traditional, natural way, losing over 200 lbs! Also, I’m in a very healthy relationship now. It took me almost a year of working on me before stepping out into something new. That’s what I truly recommend for anyone!
My advice is that it doesn’t matter what tools you lose to get healthy (weight loss surgery to weight watchers) just as long as you do it! When you start to think you are failing, remember that can only happen if you give up! Keep learning and growing spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically! I have a Facebook group called Operation Healthy where we support each other on our journey maintaining of healthy lifestyle. Love to all! Now, let’s get healthy!

Way to go!! I was moved by Natashas story, it really mirrored my own story. From the failed rushed-online relationship, to the emotional eating. I began my weight loss journey in mid-May and i’ve lost 24 lbs and have kept it off so far. Soon I’ll join a gym once my kids go to school with the hopes of losing more. Hopefully I too will see more results and feel better about myself the more I press on. Kudos to you Natasha!! Thanks for sharing your story.
