Update Nov 2016 – Jennifer wrote in from France to share how she’s continued to maintain her success. Her story should be an inspiration to those who are trying to tone up or those who only have 10-20 pounds to lose. She’s lost 22 pounds.
I started my weight-loss journey in 2013 when I was weighing 63kgs (138 pounds), and now I weigh 53kgs (116 pounds). I have been on this journey for 3 years now. How do I maintain my weight loss? I work out from home 3 times per week and my sessions last for 20 minutes. I do squats and I love them because they are a total body workout. You’ll also find me walking a 3 miles every day.
I drink a lot of water, almost 3 liters per day, but it’s mainly warm water. I watch what I eat. I eat less carbohydrates but I still eat lots of vegetables. I regularly have green tea and eat apples, nuts, white meat (chicken breast) and fish.
What I have learned from this journey is patience and determination. I’ve also leaned not to compare myself with others. Since our bodies are different, we can’t be or look the same. Some people lose weight faster than others. So, I have learned to be me. The only key to success on this journey is determination and believing in yourself.
Aug 2016 – Jennifer lost 17 pounds. This Ugandan mom of 2 cleaned up her eating habits and worked out 6 times a week to slim down. She shared with us about her journey, including a video about what she eats in a day.
Here is my story! I’m a Ugandan mum of 2 kids. In November 2013, I bought a top which was very nice, but when I tried it on it showed my muffin top around the back. So, I looked in the mirror and I told myself that I needed to change. From that day, I never looked back.
I joined a healthy group of mothers were I learned to eat clean. I cut off all the foods that contains wheat, like beers, bread and pasta. I definitely eat less carbohydrates. I drink a lot of warm water, 3 liters per day.
I worked out 6 times per week. My workout sessions lasted for 45 minutes. I did squats, skipping and ab exercises. I worked out at home with the help of YouTube videos. Now, I am addicted to walking 2mph.
I was weighed 63kg (138 pounds) at the beginning and I now weight 55kgs (121 pounds), which is ok for me as a young mum.
This is my word of encouragement that I offer to all of you ladies on your weight loss journey: It’s takes time. Determination is the key to success. Eat clean, workout and take in less carbohydrates, and you will reach you goals!
