Transformation of the Day: Vonna lost 50 pounds. Her journey started with researching healthy alternatives for dealing with fibroids when her mother was facing a hysterectomy. This led to her changing her lifestyle and become more conscious of the role of nutrition and natural foods. Check out her journey.
The initial thing that started my weight loss journey was watching family and friends struggle with health problems that had few solutions. My mother had fibroids and her doctor thought it would be best for her to have a hysterectomy. I wanted to know the alternatives so I began to research, study women’s health and look for alternatives to surgery. I soon learned how important it was to be healthy and that it could be the difference between your life and death. I learned that many sicknesses we are experiencing as African American women come directly from our diet. I also learned that these conditions can also be healed naturally. I made it my personal duty to tell other women how they can naturally heal their bodies and offer alternatives to consider before having surgery. If ever I am weak, I think of the other sisters who are looking to me for guidance and anyone I get inspired and I strive off of that for encouragement.
In terms of my eating habits, I first began by cutting pork and beef out of my diet. Next, I became a vegetarian and cut out all meats and meat by products. Later in my journey, I cut out all sugars, all dairy and started eating more fresh fruits and veggies.
I started to walk more and be out in nature. I began practicing african dance and it gives me a great workout three times a week.
My starting weight was 230 pounds and my current weight is 180 pounds. My initial lifestyle change journey started six years ago but the main transformation took six months.
I healed myself naturally and the weight has no choice but to fall off when you are truly nourishing your body with live foods. There is no need to count calories so I think it was even easier to maintain than the traditional diets. I did not have surgery of any kind and do promote healthy weight loss through diet and exercise. I would advise anyone who wants to start a weight loss journey to start with your health in mind first and work to improve it. The weight will naturally fall off and exercise will help tone your body at a natural rate.
No diet pills, No body wraps, No wrist trainer and No surgery. Natural weight loss is possible. Educate yourself on the benefits of eating a healthy diet to help change your perspective about food. Becoming more conscious of my diet was one of the best things I could have done for myself physically, mentally and spiritually.
